Misty Cliffs is a beautiful rock climbing destination above Scarborough on the Cape Peninsula. The Misty Cliffs crag is a picturesque location accessed through private land. For this reason, access to Misty Cliffs is sensitive. Adhere to the access requirements and purchase a permit!
Routes range from 21 /6b+ to 28 / 7c. Misty Cliffs has a high concentration of routes in this range and the routes will test your endurance, some requiring a 70m rope. The windy cliff line above the ocean offers significant exposure. Weathering of the rock is different than most climbing in the Cape. This does not detract from the quality of the movements, and brings a style unlike other areas. In the notorious South Easter wind, this crag is in prime condition. When other peninsula crags are unplayable, Misty Cliffs will deliver. Bring warm gear though as it is still exposed to the Atlantic breeze.
